Millions of dollars are spent ever year on nails. People not only want to wear accessories on their ears, belly buttons and fingers, but on their fingertips as well. In every city, there are at least a few nail salons and in larger cities there are as many as hundreds. This is all in the quest for bodily perfection. With Botox, face lifts, breast enhancements and nose jobs it only makes sense that sculpting, styling and designing nails would be a booming industry.

So you have decided to get your nails done. When you finally walk into the salon you are confronted with a myriad of different options. Which do you choose?

Of course you could always go with the tried and true, simple manicure or French manicure, but why not add a little flair? A few small rhinestones will add a lot of sparkle to an ordinary manicure. Rhinestones come in different styles: triangles, bagettes, teardrops, ovals, circles and squares, and all colors. Shiny not your style? Try some decals such as stickers or metal studs.

Airbrush nail art is gaining a large fan base. Before, painting a picture of something on a nail was a long and strenuous task. Now it’s as simple as spraying over a stencil. There are millions of different airbrush nail art designs to choose from including holiday themes, patterns, animal themes and more.

There are only a few steps to airbrush nail art application. First step, no matter what design of 3D nail art effect you want, apply a basecoat of opaque white. This is so the color palate is evenly textured and the color sticks better. Secondly, spray the background colors. After applying the background colors, use stencils to apply the remanding designs. Sometimes you will have to repeat this last step a few times in order to get the right effect. The final step is a sealing coat, so you can expect your new airbrush nail art designs to last for at least a week, depending on if you work with your hands or not. During this whole process some of the equipment you will need include a compressor, a gun, paints, stencils, a finger stand and airbrush glaze.

3D nail art is also another option. This is applied in a similar manner except ceramic and acrylic is used. Step by step application is necessary and you might have to wait a little longer than normal for it to finish drying.

Although airbrush nail art may be a little much for everyday, it is perfect for that special occasion like a wedding or big event. It is a great way to add a little more accessory into your outfit.
